Car seat regulations in Turkey






Child seats in vehicles became mandatory in Turkey from the year 2010. Not only in one’s private cars, ven while travelling in taxis, rental cars or public buses, it is compulsory for the kids to be seated in child seat. While travelling to this country, you must have arranged a taxi with an infant or child seat before your arrival at the airport.

The child safety seat is mandatory for children under 1,35 m. It is also made compulsory in accordance with the weight of the child. Keeping this in view, child car safety seats will be compulsory for children under 36 kilograms.

As per the laws of the country, a 12 month old child or below that weighing up to 9 kg should be seated in the safety seat at the back with baby’s face placed in the rear facing windows.

Children up to 4 years of age weighing up to10-18 kg must be seated in child safety seats at the back seat which can be mounted facing forward. Children who are 0-12 month old should travel in the rear facing car seat.

Between 4-12 years when the weight of children is between15-36 kg, child safety seats should be used with a car. For a child of 12 years of age, seat belts must be installed.

The use of child seats is mandatory even in taxis or when using public transport. In case a person doesn’t bring his own, rental agencies are obliged to provide it as per the laws of the nation.
