Child friendly Phuket

 

Phuket Island is a family fun island drenched in the sun and lazily laying in the Andaman Sea.  It is a true escape from the normal hustle and bustle of reality and where families can simply get back to nature and spend time together.  Family taxis are easy to find and they are equipped with the right seating for the little kids traveling with you.  But don't expect booster car seats or baby seats if you grab a tuk tuk, you will only get disco flashing lights and blasting music as you zap around the traffic. 

 

Three or more perched on a scooter is the norm here, motorbike petrol comes in large drink bottles on the side of the road and it is permissible to throw water at a cop during the famous Songkran festival which is the biggest water fight on the streets in the world.

 

For a total family outing go to the Phuket FantaSea Show at Kamala Beach where not only will the kids get a dose of Thai culture, but the show is full of comedians, performing animals and acrobats.  The lighting and special effects are brilliant.  Zorbing at Rollerball Kalim Beach is an activity that will leave the kidsorthebig kids dizzy for hours, as you jump into a flexible plastic ball and roll down a 190m hill.  If the beach isn't enough for the children and they want slides, go to the Splash Jungle Water Park at Mai Khao, where the kids can not only slip down the water slides but play in the wave pool as well.
