Car Seat Laws in South Korea
South Korea's Road Traffic Act (article 50) requires children under 6 to ride in a car seat. The law does not exempt taxis, but when the all-seats seat belt rule took effect in September 2018 the government said fitting car seats in taxis and buses was not currently possible and did not enforce the car-seat requirement there, so most taxis do not carry one. The Seoul Metropolitan Government has piloted a 'Seoul Parents Taxi' program equipping some taxis with car seats for babies under 24 months. If you book with Taxibambino, the restraint you request is fitted before pickup.
South Korea requires a car seat for every child under 6, with a ₩60,000 fine for the driver, but the rule is not enforced in taxis — which is the practical problem, since standard taxis and the Kakao T and Tmap apps rarely carry a seat. Independently of the law, the physics are unchanged: a seat approved to the applicable standard and fitted on rigid ISOFIX anchors holds its line where a belt-only fit works loose — particularly on the expressway between Incheon (ICN) and central Seoul.

Space is the other constraint our drivers meet at the airport rank, which is filled largely with compact and mid-sized cars: two bulky seats plus a double stroller and the luggage already fills one, so a third child needing a restraint means booking a larger vehicle in advance.
As a rule of thumb on seat groups: under about 13 kg a rear-facing infant carrier; roughly 9–18 kg a forward-facing seat with a 5-point harness; 15–25 kg a high-back booster; and above that a booster until the adult belt sits correctly across the shoulder and hips rather than the neck and stomach.
Across 47 bookings made through TaxiBambino for Seoul in the twelve months to August 2026, the middle half of families paid roughly ₩93,200–₩150,400, with a median near ₩114,500 (€57–€92, converted at rates of 3 August 2026). Party size is the part most families underestimate: 36% of those bookings were for four or more passengers and 13% for five or more — the point at which a standard sedan stops working once car seats, a stroller and luggage are added.
October was the busiest travel month, and families booked around five days ahead on average. Prices move with demand, season and the exchange rate, so treat these as historical ranges rather than a quote; vehicles are supplied by TaxiBambino and our partner network.
